Jeff Greenstein is an American entrepreneur and private investor based in Seattle, Washington. He is currently the President of YIS Capital, an active philanthropist and passionate collector of contemporary art. Jeff is also the Co-Founder, Chairman and Interim CEO at 98point6. Related to these interests, Jeff is a co-founder of the Greenstein Family Foundation and the Greenstein Lab.
Jeff Greenstein began his financial career as a consultant at Merrill Lynch in 1984. After three years at Merrill Lynch, Jeff became President of Behar Greenstein Inc., where he oversaw option trading on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. From there, Jeff moved to Oppenheimer & Co., where he served as Vice President of the Institutional Derivatives division through 1989.
In 1989 Jeff co-founded Greenstein Rosenthal Capital, a relative value hedge fund, where he served as CEO through 1993, at which time he co-founded Quellos Group, LLC. Jeff Greenstein was the CEO of Quellos—a global alternative investment management firm—through 2007. At this time Quellos was acquired by BlackRock for over $1 billion. Since then, Jeff has worked as the President of YIS Capital, a Seattle-based diversified private investment firm which focuses on alternative assets.
Jeff Greenstein is deeply committed and active in a broad range of philanthropic activities. A dedication to humanitarianism was instilled at an early age, when he was the grateful recipient of scholarships and community programs that ultimately helped define him. As a beneficiary of the generosity of others, Jeff vowed to follow this path to help others in need once able.
To that end, Jeff Greenstein has supported many local, national and international initiatives. In 2010 Jeff co-founded with his wife Judy the Greenstein Family Foundation to further their philanthropic objectives. This Seattle-based charitable foundation concentrates on driving meaningful change in the core areas of Jewish continuity, basic community needs, health care, education, and the arts.
Jeff has also served a number of civic leadership roles over the past two decades, including Trustee to the Seattle Art Museum and the Samis Foundation. He has also been a Member of the University of Washington Investment Committee, the UW Medicine Strategic Initiatives Committee, the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle Board of Directors, and the United Jewish Appeal National Young Leadership Cabinet. Recently Jeff has worked extensively with Brothers For Life, an organization that helps wounded Israeli soldiers recover and reintegrate into civilian life following their military service.
Jeff’s longstanding involvement and passion in contemporary art were the drivers behind his co-founding of the Greenstein Lab– a unique space in Seattle designed to exhibit and promote contemporary artists and their works.
Jeff Greenstein is married to Judy Greenstein. They have three sons and a daughter and live in the greater Seattle area in Washington state. Jeff enjoys spending time with family and friends, and staying active with golf, skiing, and other outdoor activities. He also enjoys traveling and exploring, especially when seeing art is involved. Throughout all aspects of his life, Jeff Greenstein brings an entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and a desire to collaborate and help others.
